WHM and cPanel or AWS: which hosting suits a small business?

For most small businesses, a well-managed WHM and cPanel server is the simpler and cheaper choice; AWS is better when you need to grow fast or run custom software.
cPanel hosting
cPanel is built for websites and email, is easy to manage, and one server can host several sites. The risk is neglect: if nobody applies updates or checks backups, it becomes the easiest thing to break into.
AWS
AWS gives more control and room to scale, and lets you build in redundancy. The cost is complexity: someone has to set it up properly, watch the bill and keep it secure.
How to choose
- A brochure site, blog or small shop: cPanel is usually enough.
- An app with logins, many users or heavy traffic: use AWS.
- No one in-house to look after servers: pay for managed hosting either way.
Ask your provider
- Who takes backups, and how often are they tested?
- Who applies security updates?
- How quickly do you get a response when the site goes down?
