Does a Ghanaian payments company need a penetration test?

Yes. If your platform handles customer money or data, have it tested by an outside team regularly, and before any big launch.
What a penetration test is
A penetration test is a controlled attack on your own system, carried out by security specialists, to find weaknesses before criminals do. It ends with a written report: what was found, how serious it is and how to fix it.
Why it matters for regulated companies
Licensed payment and finance companies in Ghana are expected to test their security as part of their obligations. Even when no one has asked, customers and partner banks will.
What makes a test worth paying for
- A clear scope: which apps, APIs and servers are included.
- A retest, because fixes only count once someone confirms them.
- A plain-language summary for management, not only a technical list.
What testers usually find
Most findings are not exotic: weak access controls, exposed admin pages, outdated software and APIs that return more data than they should.
